| Lesley Scorgie is a Canadian financial ingénue. At age ten, she
started investing and learning the finer points of financial literacy. She
believes simplicity works best for children. By the age of seventeen, she
was a guest on Oprah. Her book, Rich by Thirty: A Young Adult’s Guide To
Financial Success, explains how the world of money works. Lesley is now in
her 20s, and she is almost a millionaire. Her main three tenets are simple
and effective strategies: Spend your money wisely. Save and invest in your
future. Give back to your community. Adults will benefit from this book as
well. |

| Ottawa’s Currency Museum is a special gem that more people need to
know about. The museum houses Canadian currency and some international
currency through history. It is also a tremendous resource of information
about money. The collection holds more than 100 000 of Canada’s coins,
tokens, bank notes, plus “a wide representation of foreign currencies and
ethnographic artifacts dating from ancient to modern times.” Admission is
free, but if you don’t happen to be in Ottawa, the web site offers an
extensive array of currency to view. There is also loads of info on
“anatomy of a coin,” starting a currency collection, counterfeiting,
understanding inflation for kids, and more. |
